Cool It With the Warming, Already!

You heard it here first -- the "global warming" crusaders have now developed a loophole they can jump through in the unlikely event that the climate over the next few years doesn't live up to their dire predictions. According to an item in today's "Steve Newman's Earthweek", a "new study" indicates that "there will be a respite from global warming through the year 2015 before worldwide temperatures resume the upward trend predicted by most of the world's climate experts." (I like that "most" business. They're even pulling their punches about that.) It seems that "a natural variation in ocean currents will cancel out the effects of manmade greenhouse gases." Well, I must say, these guys are no dummies. They have pulled of a propaganda coup that rivals anything the Soviets ever came up with. What this means is that from now until 2016 they can keep busting our chops about global warming, _no matter what the evidence does or does not indicate_. We have already seen them attribute record cold weather to global warming... record snowfalls to global warming... and so on. But this is more subtle. Apparently too many people pointed out that attributing record cold and snow to global warming sounded like a tale told by an idiot. So what we are about to be treated to is, instead, a tale told by someone who is just a bit mentally challenged -- namely, that "no change" is evidence for "change". Or, that they have _theoretical_ evidence for change, or that evidence for change is right around the corner, and so don't be fooled by this temporary "no change" situation.

It's funny how so many "educated" people object to religion on the grounds that it's "superstitious" and relies on "myths". Now we have educated people rallying around a "scientific" cause that makes the cargo cultists of the South Pacific look like hard-nosed skeptics. Ah yes, interesting times.
